Activity Description

Your full day tour starts with a pick up from you hotel in Cape Town or surrounds. The exact time will be confirmed with you the day before the trip. Travel to Simon’s Town is just 45 minutes from Cape Town where you will meet the crew at the Apex Shark Expeditions shop. Guests are welcomed aboard White Pointer II. A full safety and weather briefing is given before departure.

Our shark tours to either Seal Island or Cape Point both offer very different opportunities. Possible shark species can include Seven gill cow sharks, Mako Sharks, Blue sharks and Great white sharks. The location for the day will be determined by the best shark activity and sea conditions and will be confirmed with you the day before your trip.
Whales, dolphins and many species of sea birds are often encountered on this adventurous expedition. As we adopt an eco style of operating our trips, going to sea with Apex is like going on a safari game drive and we will try to take in as much marine wildlife as possible on our trips

Once we arrive at Seal Island or Cape Point, based on what the weather is doing, we will decide on the best spot to weigh anchor and begin attracting sharks to the vessel.
The cage is then deployed where it floats next to our vessel. Once a shark approaches our boat, bait is kept in the water to keep the shark around long enough for identification, viewing and cage diving purposes.
If the weather conditions are favourable, guests will be readied for cage diving. Safety precautions and operational procedures are then explained to any guest wishing to enter the cage. It is important to know that the sharks come very close to the boat so it is not necessary to dive in order to see them. Those not wishing to dive will have excellent views of the sharks regardless. The shark trip duration is +- 3- 4 hours depending on the weather conditions and shark activity and you are are invited for complimentary tea / coffee and biscuits at the Apex shop upon your return.
There are many good restaurants in Simon’s Town to have lunch. Salty Sea Dog offers good old fish n’ chips and the Lighthouse Cafe serves up delicious one of a kind dishes which you will want to come back for. Lunch is for your own account.

Sipping on fine wines while taking in the Cape’s scenic beauty is the perfect way to spend the afternoon after the excitement of a morning shark cage diving.

In 1679 Simon van der Stel was appointed by the Dutch East India Company to govern the Cape of Good Hope. After years of loyal service, he requested land from the Company. He periodically sent out riders to collect soil samples. In 1685 he chose 891 morgen (about 763 ha) situated behind Table Mountain for its wine-growing potential and magnificent scenery. Constantia Winelands was founded.

Groot Constantia is nestled in the fertile Constantia Valley. Become part of a lineage of royalty and noble men who have savoured these wines for centuries.
Most people believe perfection is an impossible ideal, they don’t. They have produced legendary wines for over 300 years.

Visitor’s Route Experience includes:
• Museum access
• Guided or self-guided cellar tour (10H00 – 16H00)
• Tasting (5 wines of your choice)
• Spiegalau crystal glass as a souvenir

Next, if there is time, you’ll head to Constantia Glen.Vineyard.

Ideally located just minutes from the bustling centre of Cape Town, Constantia Glen is a picturesque boutique wine estate with breath taking views.
The undulating foothills of the Constantiaberg command hand harvesting practices underpinning the hand crafted quality of their wines.

Return to your hotel at +- 5pm.
